Spawn of Thomas Bergh,

While looking for some additional postcards of the ship that Thomas Bergh sailed on from Liverpool to North America in 1912, I found some interesting things on the Internet. I was doing this because I am about to begin a pictoral project around his immigration. I have the originals of his immigration papers that allowed him to disembark from the R.M.S. Laurentic in Canada on May 19, 1912 (he had sailed on May 11). He sailed "steerage", and was 33 years old when he arrived. I also found (on e-Bay some time back) a ship's postcard for that ship.

The Internet goodies can be found by Googling "R. M. S. Laurentic". The top item should be a YouTube video of a dive on the ship's wreck off the coast of Ireland. It's cool. Beneath that choice are several articles on the ship, how and why it was sunk and about why it holds a record for the most gold ever salvaged off of one wreck. The ship was sunk five years after Thomas sailed on it. As I'm sure you all know from family lore, Thomas was set to sail on the Laurentic's sister ship, the R. M. S. Titantic a few weeks earlier, but missed the sailing due to a delay in the trip from Norway to Liverpool. Not many folks from steerage survived the sinking of the Titantic.
He died on 21 April 1948.
